Nashville, TN: The Kind Cake – Nut Free, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Dairy-Free, and Egg-Free Cupcakes
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Joanna Gaston of The Kind Cake today at the West End Farmer’s Market in West Nashville. I have been wanting to meet her and try her creations every since I heard about her company earlier this summer. The best part – they are Gluten Free, Soy-Free, Nut-Free, Dairy-Free, and Egg Free!! She currently makes 4 regular cupcake flavors and one seasonal, but has big plans to expand. I don’t indulge in too many sweet treats, but finding a good gluten-free cupcake is like finding a unicorn. Am I right??
One MAJOR reason I love The Kind Cake’s treats and what drew me to them in the first place was the simple fact that they have minimal yet appropriate icing usage. I know there are icing freaks out there, but I usually go into a diabetic comma if I try to eat that much sugar, so I am grateful for the creamy, sweet touch that compliments the flavor without overpowering it in sugar. The flavors are fresh, natural, and true to how good, real food delicacies should taste – no artificial flavorings for this gal. The Kind Cake‘s current flavors are:
- Carrot Cake
- Nana Bread (Banana)
- Mississippi Spice (seasonal flavor) – great for the upcoming holidays!
Not only are her cupcakes adorable and have a nostalgic look, but they have a suggested act of kindness on the bottom of every cupcake to help you spread good deeds throughout your day. We all need some extra kindness in our lives, and I don’t think I have ever seen someone frowning while enjoying a cupcake, can you imagine? So why not take that good feeling and spread more kindness throughout your day. Her company’s mission is below.
The Kind Cake is on a mission to catalyze a kindness movement. Not only are these cakes delicious, they are gluten-free and free of dairy, eggs, nuts, soy and wheat! On the bottom of each cake wrapper, you will find your own personal act of kindness; one that we encourage you show someone else. Not only are you being kind to your body, you become an active part of a movement that is sure to bring a lot of needed joy into this world. We want to make kindness cool again!
